Nursing is a Sector Which is Changing Rapidly

It is so interesting indeed, that not more than a couple of years ago, it looked like the shortage of nurses was going to sink our healthcare system. Well, that was then, and this is now, and my have things changed in the last few years. Today, many nurses are being laid off, even as our healthcare costs, and health care insurance is rising at 10% year over year.

Not long ago, I was reading in the Wall Street Journal how all the new provisions of ObamaCare had tightened up some challenges in the field of nurses, but in doing so also made more regulations, and more restrictions, which also complicates licensing, and nurse license renewals, while also requiring more on-going education to satisfy the laws. This was to be expected of course.

Now the nursing profession is also getting hit by malpractice insurance, apparently, many of the doctors are now hiring the best defense lawyers, so the malpractice lawyers are going after the nurses. Luckily, the hospitals also cover malpractice insurance for their nurses, but in doing so they are requiring more stringent procedures and training.

Perhaps, you should go online and read some of the articles on this topic about or concerning nursing, and the different types of nursing such as; Pediatric Nursing, Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Registered Nurse (RN), Nurse Practitioner, Registered Nurse First Assistant, and/or Clinical Nurse Specialist. You see, if you want to become a nurse, first you need to decide what type of nurse you truly wish to become.

Indeed, there is a lot of history in the practice of nursing, going back to the beginning of our country here in the United States. But suffice it to say, today, we are making a little bit of history of our own in this sector as we speak - there are definitely plenty of changes going on right now.

And did you know there is a whole lot of Nursing Science that goes into this profession, which is a good thing, and perhaps, why we have one of the best health care systems in the world - we really should be thanking our tried and true professional nurses. They are the ones holding up the fort and making us great, and keeping ourselves and loved ones healthy and safe.
