Nurse Training to Become a Registered Nurse
There are a few different paths that you can take if you are looking at getting into a nursing career and include a Bachelor's degree, an Associate's degree, and a nursing certificate. The most common option is to get a Bachelor's degree and work as a RN. After a student completes the educational requirements, there is a state board exam that needs to be passed before you can apply for your RN license. Registered Nurses are needed more than a LPN simply because you can do more as a RN that you can't do with a LPN license. You will be working in a slew of various settings and healthcare facilities such as nursing homes, hospitals, medical offices, and even for home health agencies. You are going to be an integral part of the patient care plan even when you are not working with a patient directly. There are even some RN positions that have you working more with the insurance aspect as far as figuring out the patient's eligibility and what is owed out of pocket.
Educational Requirements
There are a few things that need to be done and criteria that need to be met before you can enroll in nursing school. This can vary from one program to another and for the most part, you need to have either a SAT or an ACT test score as well as GPA of at least 2.0. You need to have basic courses such as foreign language, math, and science taken in addition to English classes. You need to also be a part of extracurricular activities.
In regards to becoming a nurse, there are a few levels and one is to become a Registered nurse. This is going to take an average of 3 years and if you are working towards an Associate's degree, this will take about 2 years. If you are looking for a more administrative position as well as a larger salary you may be interested in a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing Degree. This is a 4 year degree program and there is night or day classes that will help accommodate your needs.
